Mr. Jit Balakumar is a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon with over two decades of experience in lower limb surgeries, such as joint replacement, hip arthroscopy, and hip impingement surgery. Mr. Balakumar sees private patients at the Melbourne orthopaedic group.

Mr. Balakumar gained his bachelor's degree at Monash University in 1998, after which he undertook a fellowship at the Royal Melbourne Hospital. He then gained his diploma in knee surgery after completing his knee surgery fellowship in Paris, France. Mr Balakumar was later recognised for his hard work in 2008 and was awarded a place on a very prestigious and competitive paediatric surgery fellowship at Havard's Children's Hospital, Boston. During this fellowship, he gained knowledge and expertise in hands-on surgical training techniques, such as paediatric joint preservation, among world-renowned paediatric surgeons.

Due to his combined local and overseas experience, Mr Balakumar has a fresh understanding of how to treat a variety of lower limb orthopaedic conditions. He is also an active member of the scientific research community, as he has contributed numerous publications to orthopaedic literature and has also presented his work at national and international conferences. Mr. Balakumar also takes part in the training and education of medical students and future orthopaedic surgeons. He is a member of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons and the Australian Orthopaedic Association.
