Before entering general practice, Dr An gained diverse clinical experience working across multiple medical departments during her formative years as a Doctor. Her extensive hospital-based training spanned essential fields such as Emergency Medicine, General Medicine, Cardiology, Paediatrics, Surgery, and Obstetrics and Gynaecology. She subsequently completed her specialised General Practice training in regional South Australia, which provided her with a deep understanding of the unique healthcare needs of rural communities.

Dr An began her academic journey in New Zealand, where she completed a Bachelor of Science and a Postgraduate Diploma at the University of Auckland. She then relocated to South Australia to pursue her medical training, earning her Doctor of Medicine from Flinders University. Her broad academic foundation and rigorous clinical training equip her to manage a wide range of acute and chronic health conditions with expertise and diligence.
