Dr Janani Nagendra

Dr Janani Nagendra is a highly qualified and compassionate Psychiatrist who provides comprehensive mental health care for adults and older individuals. With a dual focus as a Geriatric Psychiatrist and General Adult Psychiatrist, she is dedicated to supporting patients through complex psychological and cognitive challenges. Dr Nagendra adopts a patient-centred approach, offering tailored treatment plans that may include psychotherapy, medication management, or a combination of both, depending on individual needs and preferences.

Her clinical practice encompasses a broad range of mental health conditions, with a particular interest in the treatment of psychiatric illnesses in older adults. Dr Nagendra specialises in the diagnosis and management of cognitive disorders, including dementia-related conditions, and addresses psychiatric symptoms arising from neurological disorders. Additionally, she provides expert care for adults experiencing major mood and anxiety disorders, adult Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), prolonged grief, and women's mental health concerns during the perimenopausal period.

Dr Nagendra completed her medical training with a Bachelor of Science (Medicine) and a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery. She furthered her academic and clinical expertise by obtaining a Master of Psychiatry and an Advanced Certificate in Psychiatry of Old Age. In 2017, she was admitted as a Fellow of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists, reflecting her high standard of training and commitment to the field of Psychiatry.
