Dr James Read

Dr James Read is a dedicated and highly qualified General Practitioner who is committed to providing comprehensive, patient-centred care. Known for his calm manner, clear communication style, and methodical approach, he focuses on building long-term, collaborative relationships with his patients. Dr Read believes in delivering evidence-based medicine that supports both immediate health needs and long-term wellness.

With a broad range of clinical expertise, Dr Read has a particular interest in respiratory medicine, including the diagnosis and management of asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), and chronic coughs. His practice encompasses all aspects of family and general medicine, ranging from preventative health and lifestyle medicine to acute, walk-in presentations. Additionally, he is experienced in chronic disease management, men's health, and occupational health assessments, including pre-employment health checks and worker's compensation cases. He is also an authorised prescriber of medicinal cannabis.

Dr Read obtained his Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) alongside a Bachelor of Science with Honours (BSc Hons). His extensive postgraduate training is reflected in his professional credentials, which include Membership of the Royal College of Physicians (MRCP), Membership of the Royal College of General Practitioners (MRCGP), and the Diploma of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (DRCOG). He is also a Fellow of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (FRACGP). Prior to practising in Australia, he gained valuable experience as a Principal General Practitioner in the United Kingdom, as well as working within the Australian hospital system.
