Dr Jacobus De Groot

Dr Jacobus De Groot is a compassionate and highly accomplished General Practitioner who also serves as a Practice Principal. He is dedicated to delivering comprehensive, patient-centred care to individuals and families across all stages of life. His clinical journey includes valuable experience working within remote Aboriginal communities in the Northern Territory, a humbling experience that has deeply informed his holistic and reassuring approach to family medicine.

Dr De Groot completed his medical degree and General Practice training in the Netherlands at Leiden University, qualifying in 1999. Upon moving to Australia, he attained his Fellowship of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (FRACGP). Passionate about guiding the next generation of medical professionals, he also earned a Graduate Certificate in Health Professional Education from Monash University, which supports his active role as a supervisor and educator for medical students and registrar doctors.

With a diverse range of clinical interests, Dr De Groot provides expert care in paediatrics, aged care, and men's health. His background includes dedicated clinical sessions at a prominent paediatric hospital in Melbourne, enhancing his skills in children's health. He is also highly experienced in chronic disease management, particularly for conditions such as asthma and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). Furthermore, his specialised services include aviation medicine, voluntary assisted dying (VAD) consultations, and medical termination services.
