Dr Hanlie Engelbrecht is a Specialist Oral Surgeon based in Victoria at Liberty Dental Centre and Hawthorn Specialist Clinic. She completed her undergraduate dentistry degree at the University of Pretoria, South Africa in 2004 followed by her postgraduate training at the University of Witwatersrand in Johannesburg, South Africa. She later completed a Fellowship in Craniofacial Cleft Surgery at the Pretoria Craniofacial Cleft Clinic, the largest cleft clinic in Africa.
Dr Engelbrecht moved to Melbourne in 2013 and became registered as an Oral Surgeon in Australia in 2015. She is passionate about all areas of oral surgery, particularly in the aesthetic rehabilitation of patients with lost teeth. Her aim is to restore smiles and see patients regain their confidence. Her current research interests surround the management of osteonecrosis of the jaw.
Alongside her roles at Liberty Dental Centre and Hawthorn Specialist Clinic, Dr Engelbrecht is also the Senior Oral Surgeon at the Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre, a Consultant Oral Surgeon at the Royal Dental Hospital of Melbourne and is a Lecturer at the University of Melbourne.
