Dr Dov Hersh

Dr Dov Hersh is a highly accomplished Consultant Ophthalmologist and Ophthalmic Surgeon who specialises in medical retina, oculoplastics, and general ophthalmology. With a patient-centred approach, Dr Hersh is dedicated to delivering optimal functional outcomes and enhancing the quality of life for those under his care. He is particularly interested in the management of complex retinal disorders, including macular degeneration, diabetic eye disease, and retinal vein occlusions, as well as premium cataract surgery and advanced oculoplastic procedures.

Dr Hersh began his academic journey at the University of New South Wales, where he completed a Bachelor of Commerce specialising in Information Technology. He then pursued his medical training at the University of Sydney, graduating with First Class Honours, before obtaining a Master of Medicine in Ophthalmology. Dr Hersh completed his specialist ophthalmic training at a major ophthalmic training hospital in Sydney, subsequently gaining Fellowship of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Ophthalmologists. He is also a member of the Australian and New Zealand Society of Ophthalmic Plastic Surgeons. To further refine his expertise, he undertook extensive post-graduate fellowship training in both medical retina and oculoplastic surgery at premier eye institutions in the United Kingdom.

In addition to his clinical practice, Dr Hersh is actively involved in clinical research and technological innovation. During his international fellowships, he served as a Clinical Investigator in several multi-national clinical trials evaluating emerging treatments for retinal diseases. He has published numerous scientific manuscripts in peer-reviewed international journals and regularly presents his findings at local and international conferences. Dr Hersh's commitment to global health is also reflected in his early work establishing telemedicine projects in developing countries, an initiative that earned him recognition as a semi-finalist for a prestigious national youth award.
