A/Prof Christopher Hogan

Associate Professor Christopher Hogan is a highly distinguished General Practitioner dedicated to providing comprehensive, patient-centred primary care. With a clinical approach grounded in empathy and clear communication, A/Prof Hogan focuses on understanding the unique needs of each individual. He believes in the power of generalism, addressing complex health issues with a holistic perspective that supports long-term wellness and preventative health.

A/Prof Hogan completed his medical training at the University of Melbourne, qualifying with a Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) in 1975. He holds a Diploma of the Royal Australian College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (DipRACOG) and is a Fellow of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (FRACGP). His outstanding contributions to the medical field were formally recognised in 2022 when he was awarded the Order of Australia Medal (OAM) for services to medicine. In addition to his clinical qualifications, he serves as an Honorary Clinical Associate Professor in the Department of General Practice at the University of Melbourne and is an active member of the Victoria Faculty Council.

Throughout his career, A/Prof Hogan has developed diverse clinical interests, including chronic stress management, asthma care, and coeliac disease, serving on the Medical Advisory Committee of Coeliac Australia. He is also a passionate advocate for organ and tissue donation, regularly engaging in community education to improve health literacy. Beyond direct patient care, he is deeply involved in medical education, mentoring future doctors as a Senior Supervisor for the Remote Vocational Training Service and contributing to primary care research with numerous academic publications.
