Dr Christopher Desmond

Dr Christopher Desmond is a Consultant Gastroenterologist with expertise across all areas of luminal gastroenterology and hepatology. He has particular clinical interests in colon cancer screening, inflammatory bowel disease, coeliac disease, gastro-oesophageal reflux disease (GORD), food intolerances, irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) and functional gastrointestinal disorders. He is also experienced in small bowel capsule endoscopy and the investigation of complex digestive symptoms.

Dr Desmond performs interventional and therapeutic gastroscopy and colonoscopy, including open access endoscopy, at Cabrini Malvern, Cabrini Brighton and Glen Iris Private Hospital. His procedural work includes advanced diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopy, ensuring comprehensive assessment and management of gastrointestinal conditions.

He provides a seven-day-per-week inpatient gastroenterology service at Cabrini Malvern and Brighton, offering continuity of care for hospitalised patients. He is also a Visiting Specialist at Monash Medical Centre, where he undertakes endoscopic procedures including endoscopic ultrasound (EUS).
