Dr Christine Longman

Dr Christine Longman is a highly dedicated and compassionate General Practitioner who provides comprehensive, patient-centred care in Yarraville, Australia. With a career defined by clinical excellence and community service, she is deeply committed to supporting patients through all stages of life. Dr Longman has a particular interest in supporting vulnerable and marginalised populations, delivering high-quality healthcare with a down-to-earth and reassuring approach. Her outstanding contributions to the medical profession and community health were formally recognised with the prestigious Medal of the Order of Australia (OAM).

Throughout her career, Dr Longman has developed significant expertise in women's health, reproductive medicine, and shared care obstetrics, collaborating closely with major maternity hospitals to provide comprehensive antenatal care. She is fully accredited in contraceptive implant procedures, including Implanon insertion and removal. In addition to her focus on perinatal and reproductive health, particularly for women from refugee backgrounds, Dr Longman has a profound interest in addiction medicine. She has dedicated a significant portion of her career to working with patients recovering from substance abuse, developing specialised programmes to assist other General Practitioners in managing addiction with empathy and clinical precision.

Dr Longman obtained her Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) from Monash University in 1979. She holds a Master of Medicine (MMed) and a Diploma of the Royal Australian College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (DRACOG). As a Fellow of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (FRACGP), she remains actively involved in medical education. Dr Longman has served as a Medical Educator for the Victorian Metropolitan Alliance and holds an appointment as an Honorary Senior Fellow at the General Practice and Primary Health Care Academic Centre at the University of Melbourne.
