Dr Chitra Chandran

Dr. Chitra Chandran is a highly esteemed Consultant Paediatrician, recognised globally for her expertise in child developmental and behavioural disorders. With over 25 years of experience, she is one of Australia’s most in-demand specialists in this field.

Her postgraduate training in paediatrics was completed in New York, where she also completed a Fellowship in Clinical Genetics. Dr. Chandran is Board-certified in Paediatrics in the USA and is a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians. Additionally, she is a Fellow of the American Academy of Paediatrics and an Associate of the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry.

Dr. Chandran has been in private practice in Developmental and Behavioural Paediatrics for over 25 years in Australia. For the last 14 years, she has served as one of three Consultants in the Child Behaviour Clinic at the Royal Children’s Hospital. Prior to this, she worked as a Consultant Paediatrician in the Developmental Disabilities Clinic at the Monash Medical Centre.

Throughout her career, Dr. Chandran has received numerous accolades, including a prestigious medal presented to her by the President of India for her community service in children's health in rural and remote communities across India.

Beyond her clinical work, Dr. Chandran is the Founder and Trustee of The East West Overseas Aid Foundation, a charity dedicated to providing free healthcare, education, and community development services to over 32,000 people in a rural community in India. The foundation also runs a Children's Home that provides shelter for more than 50 orphaned and disadvantaged children.
