Dr Cherian Thomas

Dr Cherian Thomas is a dedicated Consultant Psychiatrist who provides comprehensive mental health care in Australia. He is committed to delivering high-quality, patient-centred care, utilising a holistic approach to support his patients' well-being. Since qualifying as a Psychiatrist, he has worked as a Staff Specialist and in various community settings, focusing on understanding each individual's unique circumstances to ensure that treatment plans are tailored to meet their specific therapeutic needs.

Throughout his career, Dr Thomas has developed extensive expertise in assessing and treating a wide range of mental health conditions. His clinical interests include Depressive Disorders, Anxiety Disorders, trauma, and psychosis. He has a particular interest in Youth Mental Health, having worked extensively with young people to navigate complex psychological challenges. Additionally, Dr Thomas has a specialised interest in Sports Psychiatry, where he addresses the unique mental health needs of both professional and amateur athletes.

Dr Thomas completed his medical education at the Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences in India. He then relocated to the United Kingdom, where he undertook specialist training in psychiatry and obtained membership with the Royal College of Psychiatrists. Upon moving to Australia, he completed his postgraduate training in Sydney and became a Fellow of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists (FRANZCP). This fellowship reflects his commitment to maintaining the highest standards of clinical excellence and professional development in his field.
