Dr Catherine Swanson

Dr Catherine Swanson is a dedicated and compassionate General Practitioner who is deeply committed to the positive impact of primary care on patients' lives. As a true generalist, she enjoys supporting individuals and families across all stages of life, providing comprehensive and reassuring care. Dr Swanson believes in empowering her patients through health coaching and preventative education, helping them make informed decisions to support their long-term health and wellbeing.

With a broad range of clinical experience, Dr Swanson has developed particular expertise in several key areas of general medicine. Her clinical interests include women's, men's, and paediatric health, as well as musculoskeletal problems and minor trauma. She is highly skilled in skin cancer medicine, offering thorough preventative skin checks, the treatment of various skin conditions, and precise surgical procedures such as skin cancer excisions, flaps, and skin grafts. Additionally, she provides maternity shared care, supporting expectant mothers throughout their pregnancy journeys.

Dr Swanson completed her medical degree (MBBS) at the University of Queensland, where she also earned a Master of Public Health. She undertook her specialist General Practice training in Cairns and is a Fellow of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (FRACGP). Committed to the advancement of her profession, she actively contributes to the medical community by training and examining GP Registrars for the college. To further enhance her expertise in musculoskeletal care, she also participates in a weekly clinical attachment within a major hospital orthopaedics department.
