Dr Catherine Benson

Dr Catherine Benson is a dedicated Consultant Psychiatrist who provides compassionate, evidence-based mental health care for adults. With a clinical focus on outpatient care, she specialises in diagnosing and managing a wide range of psychiatric conditions. Dr Benson is particularly interested in supporting individuals experiencing anxiety disorders, mood disorders (including bipolar affective disorder), adjustment disorders, and cognitive disorders. Her patient-centred approach ensures that each individual receives a personalised treatment plan tailored to their unique needs and recovery goals.

Throughout her career, Dr Benson has gained extensive experience across diverse clinical settings. She completed her specialist training within a major public general adult and older persons mental health service, where she delivered comprehensive care across public inpatient, community, and residential care environments. In addition to her public sector work, she has worked in private inpatient and outpatient settings. Today, she focuses her clinical practice on delivering high-quality outpatient psychiatric care, helping patients navigate their mental health journeys in a supportive environment.

Dr Benson holds a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS). She is a Fellow of The Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists (FRANZCP), reflecting her high standard of clinical expertise and commitment to the field of psychiatry. Furthermore, she has completed advanced training in geriatric mental health, holding a Certificate of Advanced Training in Older Persons Mental Health (FPOA). This specialised qualification equips her with the advanced skills necessary to address the complex mental health and cognitive needs of older adults.
