Dr Caroline Mathias

Dr. Caroline Mathias is a Specialist Gynaecological Surgeon who provides comprehensive care for women across all stages of life. A Fellow of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (FRANZCOG), she completed two years of advanced surgical training through the Australasian Gynaecological Endoscopy and Surgery Society (AGES). Notably, she holds a distinct place in Australian medicine as one of the first public sector advanced gynaecological surgery fellows to be formally trained in robotic surgery operating using the Da Vinci Robotic Surgical System.

She specialises in the minimally invasive management of complex benign conditions, including advanced endometriosis, adenomyosis, and chronic pelvic pain. Her clinical approach emphasises evidence-based, individualised care through a multidisciplinary lens. She has further strengthened her expertise through international visiting fellowships at the Mayo Clinic in Arizona, USA, and IFEM Endo in Bordeaux, France, gaining extensive experience in complex pelvic surgery and multidisciplinary endometriosis care.

Dr. Mathias is also a dedicated researcher and educator, serving as a staff specialist at Nepean Hospital. Demonstrating her commitment to academic innovation and surgical education, she leads the U-ROC randomised clinical trial investigating non-surgical management of retained products of conception and is the founder of the Nepean Gynaecology Laparoscopic Skills (GLS) workshop, an annual hands-on training initiative. She is known for her approachable manner and commitment to empowering patients through clear guidance and surgical excellence.
