Dr. Basil Almehdawy

Dr Basil Almehdawy is a Queensland-trained Consultant Gastroenterologist and Hepatologist with advanced sub-specialty training in luminal endoscopy. He completed a fellowship at Sunshine Coast University Hospital, where he focused on advanced polypectomy, small bowel endoscopy (including balloon-assisted enteroscopy and video capsule endoscopy), and the management of gastro-luminal strictures.

Dr Almehdawy is dedicated to delivering high-quality care across a broad spectrum of gastrointestinal conditions. His areas of special interest include therapeutic endoscopy, colon cancer screening and prevention, obscure gastrointestinal bleeding, and the management of unexplained iron deficiency anaemia.

He holds a public appointment at Redcliffe Hospital and consults privately at Cadogan Medical, North West Private Hospital, and Gut and Liver Specialists, where services include rapid access consultations, high-quality endoscopy and colonoscopy, liver disease management, and a focus on women’s gut health.

Dr Almehdawy is passionate about evidence-based, patient-centred care and strives to ensure timely and effective diagnosis and treatment. Outside of medicine, he enjoys roasting and brewing coffee and spending quality time with his family.
