Dr Athena Roufas is an experienced ophthalmologist and ophthalmic surgeon with a subspecialist interest in anterior segment surgery. She has extensive expertise in cataract and refractive surgery, glaucoma, corneal surgery, and general ophthalmology. She consults at Central Sydney Eye Surgeons, Royal Prince Alfred Hospital, and Bondi Junction Private Hospital, providing high-quality care to patients in both public and private settings.

Dr Roufas completed her ophthalmology training in Sydney, Australia, before pursuing subspecialist training in glaucoma at Westmead Hospital. She then undertook an additional two years of advanced subspecialist training in cornea and anterior segment trauma at King’s College Hospital in London, UK, where she was trained in the latest corneal surgery techniques. Her training in high-volume tertiary referral centres has allowed her to refine her skills in cornea, glaucoma, cataract, and refractive surgery.

Dr Roufas is a consultant ophthalmologist at Royal Prince Alfred Hospital and a Clinical Lecturer at the University of Sydney. She is actively involved in research, with multiple publications in peer-reviewed journals and presentations at international conferences.
