Dr Ann Poynten

Dr Ann Poynten is an endocrinologist with interests in type 1 and type 2 diabetes. Dr Poynten also has a general endocrinology practice and manages patients with endocrine and diabetes-related illnesses. Dr Poynten has published in leading Endocrinology journals in the areas of obesity, type 2 diabetes and lipid disorders. Their current research interests include clinical trials in type 2 diabetes and projects investigating methods to detect peripheral neuropathy in type 1 diabetes. Medical student teaching and hospital resident and registrar teaching is a core part of their position. Dr Poynten is active in general practitioner ongoing education, especially in the management of type 2 diabetes in general practice. They are also interested in patient education.
