Dr Andrea Warwick

Dr Andrea Warwick is a Consultant Colorectal Surgeon with specialist expertise in functional colorectal disorders and pelvic floor conditions.

She graduated from medical school in 2004 and completed 11 years of surgical training across hospitals in the UK and Australia. In 2012, she worked as a surgeon with Médecins Sans Frontières in South Sudan and has also participated in humanitarian work in Ghana.

Following completion of her colorectal surgical training in the UK in 2015, Dr Warwick developed a specialist interest in bowel dysfunction and pelvic floor disorders. She was awarded a prestigious travelling fellowship from the European Society of Coloproctology, during which she trained at internationally recognised pelvic floor centres in Geneva, Switzerland and Aarhus, Denmark. She also completed the Fellowship of the European Board of Coloproctology by examination and received an award from the Royal Society of Medicine.

Dr Warwick is an active researcher with numerous peer-reviewed publications and serves on the editorial board of Colorectal Disease, as well as reviewing for Diseases of the Colon & Rectum. She is involved in international research collaborations and clinical trials focused on colorectal and pelvic floor conditions, using the latest evidence to guide individualised treatment decisions.

She is also a Senior Lecturer at University of Queensland and regularly teaches and lectures nationally and internationally on colorectal surgery and pelvic floor health.

Since 2015, Dr Warwick has worked as a specialist pelvic floor surgeon in Brisbane, including at the Pelvic Floor Centre at QEII Hospital, Queensland’s dedicated public pelvic floor centre, as well as Royal Brisbane and Women's Hospital and STARS. She treats a wide range of conditions including faecal incontinence, rectal prolapse, anal pain, obstructed defaecation, and complex bowel dysfunction.
