Suffering from nerve pain due to a herniated disc between C6/7, living on pain killers and quality of life was not so good, I opted to seek help from a spine surgeon. A friend in the medical industry recommended Dr Alvin Pun. Making that phone call is still one on the best decisions I have ever made. Dr. Pun's knowledge and expertise was immediately evident during my consultation. I was absolutely terrified and full of anxiety to think I would be having spinal surgery but Dr Puns command of the medical field, coupled with a genuine passion for patient well-being, instilled confidence in the care I would receive. Over just a few weeks, what had been only some minor pain and restricted movement of my neck the situation escalated so that I experienced debilitating pain in the neck and severe headaches. After having an MRI I saw my GP on a Wednesday and he said I had some serious problems. I had an extended overseas trip planned in just 6 weeks and I knew in my present situation I would not be able to cope with the planned trip. I live in a rural community some 550kms from Melbourne so medical options are limited. My GP contacted the Melbourne Spine Studio and as luck would have it Dr Pun was to be in my town on the Friday and he graciously agreed to see me at that time. My interaction with Dr pun has proved to be a "God-sent" experience. His ongoing rapport and empathy with me as a patient is outstanding. He explained all possible treatments and answered all questions. He made arrangements for me to undergo surgery at the Epworth the following Thursday. His Melbourne team were also excellent arranging all of the tests and paperwork from a distance. The outcome was that my operation was a great success. After undertaking the operation my travel insurance provider was reluctant to allow me to travel so soon after the operation but Dr Pun and his team came to my rescue again by providing much detailed information on my operation's result and I was able to travel as planned. I highly regard Dr Pun'd knowledge and skills. His commitment to travel to work with patients in country areas is also highly admirable. He demonstrates a very genuine degree of understanding and concern for his patients that is outstanding. I have the greatest confidence in Dr Pun as my surgeon.

I believe that Dr. Alvin Pun is at the leading edge of spine surgery and applies his international knowledge & experience to benefit of his patients. The modern surgical technique that I experienced was less intrusive than the traditional method that I have since learned of, which resulted in minimal pain and recovery time. This enabled me to get back to the sporting field quicker. Alvin is an incredibly dedicated Practitioner who not only provides great surgical care but also leads his profession through regular knowledge sharing and education. An all round great guy.

When i attended the Melbourne Spine Studio i was greeted by friendly and professional staff that made me feel welcome, once i had the opportunity to meet Dr Alvin Pun for the first time all my worst fears had been put to rest within 20 minutes of my consultation, this is by the way Dr Alvin treats you as part of the family and never a number, his freindly and supportive bedside manner is always calming and always provided me with the answers to all my questions and most importantly a solution to my problem with my lower back injury. Unlike most professionals i have visited in the past there was not a set in/out mentality to his approach rather it was completely the opposite where i felt the most important thing that needed to be addressed was me. Within 2 weeks i had been admitted to the Epworth Hospital and the procedure had been completed, amazingly the initial immense pain i had entered with had completely subsided and i had gained feeling in my leg again this all occurred with very minimal fuss, 6 months later now and the improvement to my mobility has improved out of site and i have returned to work with full duties, the reliance on 4 hourly medication to make it through the day has ceased. If you have any hesitation in getting anything Spine related done, i would strongly recommend to simply discuss your options with Dr Alvin Pun as the procedure he performed has been a life changing event for me.

My initial thought was that of a high standard, Dr. Pun made me feel comfortable and allowed me the opportunity to ask questions throughout my contact with him, he gave me full details as to how he would like to best treat my condition and what all my options were. At no time did I not know or understand what treatment would be used and at what stage anything would change.

Dr Pun was excellent. His manner is friendly, empathetic and professional, he explained everything thoroughly and made my disorder and it's required treatment easy to understand. Dr Pun was very open to two-way discussion and encouraged me to ask as many questions as I needed to. Dr Pun was able to successfully diagnose my condition where other medical practitioners had failed to do so. Dr Pun appears to have extensive knowledge of his chosen specialty and I would highly recommend him.

Dr Alvin Pun was an absolute pleasure to deal with and provide guidance on my current disc herniation. Having recently been through surgery with another specialist Dr Pun advised me what my options were, instilled confidence in me and educated me in what my options were. Very knowledgeable and it was lovely to see that time was not a factor at all.

I could not recommend or speak highly enough of Dr. Alvin Pun and the time and effort he invested in me and my surgery. I am forever indebted to Dr. Pun as he restored my quality of life.
