His professional journey includes providing vital medical services with the Royal Flying Doctor Service, working in isolated regions of Northern Canada, and twice serving as a Ship's Doctor in the Antarctic. These unique experiences have honed his clinical skills and deepened his expertise in managing complex and unpredictable medical situations. In addition to general practice, his clinical interests encompass obstetrics, gynaecology, and clinical hypnosis, allowing him to offer a broad range of therapeutic options to his patients.

Dr Burk completed his medical education at Monash University, where he obtained his Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery. Committed to continuous professional development, he has earned several postgraduate qualifications, including a Diploma of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists and a Certificate in Clinical Hypnosis. He is a Fellow of the Australian College of Rural and Remote Medicine and holds a Fellowship in Advanced Rural General Practice.
