Dr Adnan Younus

Dr Adnan Younus is a dedicated Consultant Psychiatrist who specialises in General Adult Psychiatry. He provides comprehensive assessment and treatment services, working collaboratively with General Practitioners, family members, and carers to optimise patient functioning and recovery. Dr Younus adopts a holistic approach to mental health care, combining thoughtful medication management with evidence-based psychotherapeutic strategies to support his patients on their journey to wellness.

With a broad range of clinical interests, Dr Younus focuses on addressing complex mental health conditions in adults and youth. His areas of expertise include mood disorders such as depression and bipolar disorder, anxiety disorders, obsessive-compulsive disorder, and post-traumatic stress disorder. He is also highly skilled in managing adult attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), complex trauma, personality disorders, and first-episode psychosis. Additionally, he is passionate about youth mental health and early intervention in both psychotic and non-psychotic disorders.

Dr Younus obtained his Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery from Karachi University in Pakistan. Upon moving to Australia, he earned his Australian Medical Council Certificate and went on to complete his specialist training, achieving Fellowship of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists. He is also an accredited member of the Faculty of Adult Psychiatry. Committed to advancing the field of mental health, Dr Younus serves as a Clinical Associate Lecturer at the University of Sydney, where he actively participates in teaching and research.
