Dr Adelyn Lau

Dr Adelyn Lau is a registered Specialist Oral Surgeon in Australia and New Zealand. Her training in oral surgery includes a Doctor of Clinical Dentistry in Oral Surgery and a Post-Graduate Diploma in Clinical Dentistry in Oral Surgery with Distinction, both completed at the University of Otago in New Zealand.

Dr Lau graduated with a Bachelor of Dental Surgery from the University of Otago in 2013 and was included on the Dean’s List for clinical excellence in her final year. Following graduation, she worked as a Dental and Maxillofacial House Officer at Dunedin Public Hospital. She subsequently completed her Post-Graduate Diploma before undertaking a further three years of full-time specialist training for her Doctorate of Clinical Dentistry in Oral Surgery.

Research formed part of Dr Lau’s doctoral training. She conducted a double-blind, randomised controlled clinical trial investigating ways to improve recovery and quality of life following wisdom teeth removal. She has presented her research at international conferences, published in peer-reviewed journals and received a prize from the International Association of Dental Research Australia-New Zealand division in 2019.

Dr Lau has also held clinical and teaching roles within the Faculty of Dentistry at the University of Otago, contributing to undergraduate training in exodontia and minor oral surgery clinics. In Australia, she has held a Staff Specialist appointment with NSW Health, operating across public hospitals within the Sydney Local Health District. Her approach emphasises safe, quality care based on individual needs, with collaboration across dental and medical specialties where required.
