The General Practitioner – Oakleigh & District is the new face of the previous Oakleigh and District Health Centre. The team at The General Practitioner is committed to delivering a fresh and comprehensive approach to general practice care for the community of Oakleigh and its surrounding suburbs. Made up of experienced specialist general practitioners, the team provides services across all areas of general practice, dedicated to offering comprehensive, quality, and friendly care to patients. The doctors are multilingual, conducting consultations in languages including Greek and Sinhala/Sinhalese.

Located at 139 Warrigal Road, the practice continues the legacy of the former Oakleigh and District Health Centre, established in 1972 and previously operated by Dr John Malios, a well-respected figure in the medical profession, particularly among the Greek-speaking community. Since 2003, the clinic has been supported by Dr Lakshmie Kariyawasam. The General Practitioner aims to maintain the atmosphere of a local family practice while integrating modern facilities and the latest health information technologies. The clinic features a well-appointed waiting area, three consulting rooms, and a treatment room with two beds used by the general practitioners and practice nurse.

The team at The General Practitioner is dedicated to providing excellent healthcare focused on building lifelong relationships with patients. They offer a range of services including women's health, children's health, men's health, sexual health, mental health, immunisations, lifestyle medicine, preventative medicine, IV infusions, sports medicine, skin checks, and travel medicine. The practice also provides aged care services in the southeastern suburbs of Melbourne, such as Oakleigh, Oakleigh East, Frankston, Frankston South, Clayton, and surrounding areas.
