Mr Shuaibu Dambatta is a highly qualified Consultant Neurosurgeon, serving in the NHS since 2002. He currently sees private patients at Spire Hull and East Riding Hospital, The Huddersfield Hospital, The Duchy Hospital and Thornbury Hospital. His current NHS practice involves dealing with all aspects of emergency and elective spinal conditions, as well as neurosurgery on-call services. He has special interests in minimally invasive surgery, deformity surgery, chiari malformation, vertebroplasty, cervical arthroplasty, trauma, degenerative spinal conditions and neuromodulation including spinal cord stimulation and intrathecal morphine and baclofen.

Mr Dambatta completed his medical degree at the University of Ibadan, Nigeria in 1999. After relocating to the UK, he undertook his higher surgical speciality training in Neurosurgery at the Northern Deanery between 2007 and 2017. He then spent three years researching developmental cell biology and neural stem cells at the Wellcome Trust Research Centre in University of Dundee and the Sir James Spence Institute, University of Newcastle.

He completed the Post-CCT Royal College of Surgeons (RCS) approved Senior Spinal Fellowship at the Golden Jubilee Regional Spinal Centre at James Cook University Hospital, Middleborough (2017 – 2018). This was a combined Orthopaedics and Neurosurgery Spinal Fellowship that focused on Adolescent and Adult Deformity, Minimally Invasive Surgery and all aspect complex spinal Neurosurgery.

Alongside his role in patient care, Mr Dambatta currently holds the position as Principal Tutor in Neurosurgery at Hull Royal Infirmary, where he is responsible for overseeing neurosurgical registrars training and ensuring that they are competent and safe clinicians.
