Dr. Shazia Hussain is a highly skilled Consultant Cardiologist with expertise in adult cardiology, specialising in coronary intervention.

Dr. Hussain is able to manage a wide range of cardiological conditions, including chest pain assessment, blood pressure control, the investigation of palpitations, and the interpretation of electrocardiograms (ECGs) and monitoring.

She is skilled in all aspects of coronary intervention, covering diagnostic angiography, complex angioplasty procedures, and physiological testing using techniques such as fractional flow reserve (FFR) and instantaneous wave-free ratio (IFR). Dr. Hussain is also skilled in coronary imaging, utilising tools like intravascular ultrasound (IVUS) and Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT). Furthermore, her training in perfusion cardiovascular magnetic resonance imaging (CMR) enables her to combine practical skills with non-invasive ischemia testing.

Dr. Hussain was appointed as a Consultant Cardiologist at Glenfield Hospital in 2017. Prior to this, she underwent cardiology and interventional training at the renowned Papworth Hospital in Cambridge. Dr. Hussain's exceptional skills were recognised when she was selected for the prestigious British Cardiovascular Intervention Society (BCIS) Interventional Fellowship in Toronto, which she undertook prior to becoming a consultant.

Dr. Hussain is a member of the inaugural cohort of the British Cardiovascular Society (BCS) "Emerging Leaders Programme" and has been elected as a member of the BCS Education Committee.

During her training, she devoted herself to research, resulting in the award of a PhD from King's College, University of London. She has numerous peer-reviewed publications, including her role as the main author of the MR-INFORM study published in the New England Journal of Medicine in 2019.
