I was unfortunate enough to contract an especially severe form of thyrotoxicosis which badly affected my eyes. After some delay on the part of the endocrinology department I was referred to Miss Murthy. I believe that her swift action at my first appointment with her (an immediate intravenous dose of steroids to reduce the inflammation in my eyes) probably prevented the condition from worsening considerably. Throughout the approximately 12 months during which she treated me she was always patient (especially with my many questions about the ten or so drugs I was taking), clear in her explanations and supportive and encouraging during my periods of self-pity (not too many but they did happen). Thankfully after a thyrodectomy, a successful cardioversion and correction of a squint, a legacy of the thyrotoxicosis, I am now back to full health. I believe that this is due in no small part to Miss Murthy's care and expertise and I would have no hesitation in recommending her for any opthalmological problem.
