Explanation

Mr Sayal was very thorough in his explanation of my Spinal condition. He was fantastic in my care from the start, being very methodological and explaining various options to me. He kept in touch with me post Surgery when I had concerns about my recovery. Thoroughly a true credit to the medical team at the Wellington Hospital.

My appointment with Mr Sayal was exceptional. He was kind, professional, extremely competent and an absolute credit to the National. He is obviously an extremely dedicated and talented surgeon but he is also compassionate and able to communicate complex information in a way that is clear and very informative. He successfully surgically repaired my CSF venous fistula in Jan 2022. My after care was fantastic. I had very little pain post op and my symptoms have resolved. I had no other complications and my scar is amazing considering what had to be done to fix me. He is wonderful and I will forever be grateful to him.

Parag always explains everything well and made sure I understood what was happening. He is a highly skilled surgeon who performed a very complex spinal surgery on me and the outcome has been better than I expected. He has been very quick to respond to questions I have had since the surgery and help ease my concerns.

I cant recommend Dr Sayal any highly. I had spinal tumour and Dr Sayal carried out the surgery which was suited to my needs and age. He did a fantastic job. Post operation, he visited me frequently to see how I'm doing. He visited me on a Sunday 7pm. This shows the level of commitment from Dr Sayal Not only is he a great surgeon but also a empathetic person. I felt comfortable with him from day one and he went above & beyond in every aspect. You can't go wrong with Dr Sayal

I am impressed by the level of interest and the extent of detail with which he explained the situation, the planned intervention, the actual outcome and what is to be expected in the long term. All this was done with empathy and respect, making the whole process easier to endure considering the delicate operation that the treatment involved.

Explanation

Mr Sayal, besides having what I always refer to as 'blood in the veins' as a necessary condition to be a good doctor or surgeon with the patients, has been Joseph's saviour. He explained all so well over the days prior to the surgery that he made the tough days look easier for us. Even Joseph felt relieved when Mr Sayal visited him to the extent that Joseph and both Frans and myself were actually looking forward to the surgery. Mr Sayal was our only hope. We knew and could feel at the onset that Mr Sayal was incredibly dedicated and the operation would bring Joseph back on his feet. This did in no way of course reduce completely our worries as parents but Mr Sayal did manage to alleviate the pain we were going through. The surgery was a success and we have nothing but praise for Mr Sayal and his team thanks to the dedication necessary in such difficult conditions. In a nutshell I would say that Mr Sayal has the know how, the right attitude and the virtue of explaining in a manner which is understandable to patients and relatives going through traumatic times. We truly are eternally grateful.

Explanation

Mr Sayal carried out a neuro-surgical procedure on me in 2018 ( anterior cervical disectomy with fusion ). His pre-operative counselling and information was very clear especially regarding possible post op complications; he carried out the operation with care and his post operative follow up has been excellent. Simply put, he is the ideal doctor/surgeon we all want in the NHS.
