About Miss Shahrnaz Izadi
Dr. Shahrnaz Izadi is a consultant ophthalmologist with degrees in Medicine from the University of Manchester and in Physiology from University College London. During her studies, she focused on the neurobiology of vision and conducted research at the Institute of Ophthalmology in London. Dr. Izadi has trained in ophthalmology at some of the country’s most prestigious tertiary centres, including St Paul’s Eye Unit in Liverpool and The Oxford Eye Unit, before completing her fellowship in Medical Retina and Uveitis at Moorfields Eye Hospital in London.
In addition to her clinical training, Dr. Izadi has gained valuable experience within the ophthalmic pharmaceutical industry and developed a keen interest in clinical trials and research. Her extensive involvement in clinical studies has led to numerous publications in peer-reviewed journals and presentations at both national and international conferences. Passionate about innovation, she continually explores new treatment modalities for medical retina disorders.
Dr. Izadi’s clinical expertise spans general ophthalmology and the management of a wide range of medical retina conditions, including age-related macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, diabetic macular oedema, retinal vein occlusions, and uveitis. She has served as a substantive Consultant at Epsom and St Helier University Hospitals NHS Trust, where she held leadership roles as the Lead for Diabetic Maculopathy and Retinal Lead. In these capacities, she conducted multiple departmental audits and served as a Principal Investigator in clinical trials, further cementing her reputation as a leader in advancing eye care through research and innovation.

Shahrnaz performed cataract surgery on both my eyes. The complete package included initial, interim and final consultations. Throughout she was clear and empathetic in her explanation of the processes and inherent risks. Most importantly she understood and allayed my anxieties, especially about and during the procedures themselves. She took pains to ensure that I was at my ease As a person Shahrnaz is charming, good-humoured and easy to talk to. I am delighted that I made the decision to have the surgery and sure that I could not have chosen a better consultant.
