Dr Hugh Mostafid is a Consultant Urological Surgeon at the Royal Surrey County Hospital, Guildford and the North Hampshire Hospital, Basingstoke. He is also an Honorary Senior Lecturer in the Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences at the University of Surrey in Guildford.
Dr Mostafid obtained his MD degree and his MSc in Urology from the University of London. He trained at Guy's Hospital, the Institute of Urology in London. He won the William Cook travelling Fellowship to the Department of Urology at the University of California (Los Angeles) to train in bladder cancer treatments.
HIs areas of interest include bladder cancer, stone disease and urinary tract infection diagnosis and treatment. He was among the first UK urologists who introduced blue light cystoscopy and device-assisted intravesical therapy for bladder cancer.
Dr Mostafid is an Expert advisor to NICE on bladder cancer, a member of the EAU Bladder Cancer guidelines panel and invited member of the Association of Academic European Urologists and the International Bladder Cancer Group. He has been awarded more than £350,000 in research grants. He has published over 100 research papers and book chapters on bladder cancer.
