Explanation

Mr El Gizawy was very professional and caring, his calm manner relieved any anxieties that I felt pre and post operatively . His explanation of my operation was very clear and this helped me to understand my procedure which was very reassuring. I would have no hesitation in recommending him to any family members or friends . A very pleasant consultant who I would definitely make an appointment with again in the future if necessary.

Explanation

Having been seen by one of his colleagues for previous treatment, I genuinely appreciated that he approached me with understanding that I had prior experiences whilst still treating me as a whole new patient. I felt listened to and my opinions recognised, and was confident in making the decisions I have for surgery and treatment based on his clear explanations. Mr. El-Gizawy has always been honest with me regarding how I should manage my expectations for treatment, whilst still being warm and personable throughout every consultation. After surgery he ensured I understood what had been found and what action had taken place, seeing me on a few occasions afterwards to make sure I had taken all of the information on board. He has, in my opinion, gone above and beyond in his duties compared to previous experiences - especially after I was admitted back to hospital shortly after surgery with an infection. He has also been very supportive with regards to my role with EndometriosisUK and has been eager to engage with the community and Staffordshire group.

Explanation

Having experienced symptoms of Endometriosis for nearly 20 years, I’ve come across many different medical professionals; their approach, understanding and treatment have varied greatly. As a patient, you can sometimes find that your pain can be dismissed because clinical findings don’t necessarily detect a problem. Also, as a result of Chronic Pain you build up a tolerance that can mask your suffering, this can make it even more difficult for you to find the support and treatment you need. On meeting Mr El-Gizawy it was apparent that the intricacies of Endometriosis and the Chronic Pain it causes are very much understood, which I must say is a huge relief; finding an educated and passionate surgeon is half the battle. I appreciate the trust my surgeon has put in me and while he clearly has extensive training and experience, he also considers that I’ve lived with this illness for many years and makes my thoughts and opinions feel valid. Mr El-Gizawy is compassionate, understanding, patient, highly educated, intuitive and reassuring. He has clearly spent a lot of his career going above and beyond what is expected of him. He is an absolute credit to his medical field and it’s been a pleasure to be his patient.
