Dr Suranjan Ghoshal is a Consultant Gynaecologist and Obstetrician at BMI The Highfield Hospital. He has nearly 30 years of experience in general gynecology and obstetrics with a special interest in urogynaecology and ambulatory gynecology.

He qualified with an MBBS in 1985, when he then undertook intensive training in gynecology and obstetrics and attained a number of postgraduate qualifications (DGO, DICOG, DNB-OG) in the specialty. He obtained a Membership of the Royal College of Obstetricians & Gynaecologists (MRCOG) in 1996 and after completing his higher training was awarded CCT in 2006.

Dr Ghoshal has been an NHS consultant since 2006 and was awarded Fellowship (FRCOG) in 2012 for his contribution. With a total of over 26 years of experience in gynecology and obstetrics, working at various levels including DGHs, tertiary referral centers, and teaching hospitals.

He completed special skills training in urodynamics in 2006 with eminent urogynaecologist Mr ARB Smith at St Marys Hospital, Manchester, and was awarded SSM certificate by RCOG.

He has a special interest in medical education and has completed SSM in Medical Education in 2007 leading to Postgraduate Certificate in Medical Education and is an examiner for medical students at Manchester University; medical graduates with GMC (PLAB) and OG specialist trainees at North West Deanery and RCOG (MRCOG).

Dr Ghoshal offers consultations, investigations and management for general gynaecological problems which include abnormal bleeding, subfertility, sexual healthcare, recurrent miscarriage and the menopause.

He also provides consultations for vaginal symptoms, some examples are a lump coming down, looseness, gaping, vulval symptoms (soreness, ulcer, torn labia), urinary incontinence (physical activity or urgency related) and urodynamic investigation.
