For many years I suffered from benign prostate enlargement which was treated initially by a conventional TURPS followed by laser surgery on two separate occasions at leading London hospitals. Laser surgery was new at that time and there was little past experience of its efficacy. It did in fact have an unfortunate result in that it led to the persistent growth of scar tissue causing repeated blockages of my bladder neck. Eventually I was fitted with a stent which was very uncomfortable and led to a whole set of new problems if ts own. I was resigned to a lifetime of experimental and ineffective treatment. Having moved home from London to Surrey I eventually sought a new consultation with Mr Gordon, a consultant urologist at the Epsom, Ashtead and St Anthony's hospitals, and at the Clockhouse Clinic in Epsom. Being medically unqualified I cannot describe the exact procedure which Mr Gordon carried out at St Anthony's Hospital but he removed the stent and there has apparently been no further growth of scar tissue in the past two years. I heartily recommend that anyone with similar problems should consult Mr Gordon and in my experience all the Surrey hospitals where he practices are first class.
