This was a follow-up appointment after my LINX procedure/surgery six months ago. I opted for LINX implant surgery after years of suffering from acid reflux and a small hiatus hernia, for which medication had little effect. The condition was having a detrimental impact on all aspects of my life — I was unable to exercise, do housework, bend over, or sleep flat comfortably. I decided to proceed with LINX implant surgery following advice from Mr Irukulla, who fully explained the procedure and the impact it would have on my life going forward. I had complete confidence and trust in his abilities and expertise. The operation went well, and I followed the medical advice and recovery timetable carefully. Initially, during the healing process, I was only able to swallow puréed food and ate every few hours to allow the device to open and close properly without forming excessive scar tissue. This process did take several months as expected. Over the last six months, I have adapted my eating habits to accommodate the LINX device. It has been a work in progress, breaking over 50 years of old eating habits and learning to eat more slowly, concentrate on my meals, take smaller bites, and chew more thoroughly. I have found that distractions (such as watching TV or eating on the go), talking while eating, or going too long without food can cause food to get stuck. I had been struggling with my weight for many years and like the vast majority of people with a weight problem, I had tried everything without any long term success. I had high blood pressure and was on medication, I was having physiotherapy for back pain which could be really severe when walking even for short distances.
