Mr Ravi Gandhewar is a skilled Consultant Ophthalmologist with over 15 years of experience. He currently sees private patients at Royal Derby Hospital and Nuffield Health Derby Hospital. 

Mr Gandhewar completed his medical degree at Nagpur University, India in 1990 before completing his Diplomate of the National Board (DNB) degree, awarded by the National Board of Medical Sciences, India, in 1997. He also became a Fellow in Ophthalmology of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow in 1997.

Mr Gandhewar's primary focus lies in the treatment and management of retina and cataract conditions, including: macular hole, macular degeneration, epiretinal membranes, vitreous haemorrhage, retinal vein occlusion, retinal detachment, diabetic retinopathy and trauma. He has specialist expertise in cataract surgery, intraocular lens implants (including premium IOLs and macular IOLs), intravitreal injections, laser eye surgery and vitreoretinal surgery.

Committed to maintaining the highest standards of practice, Mr Gandhewar undergoes regular revalidation and participates in continuous professional development, keeping up to date with the latest advances in the field of ophthalmology. He is actively engaged in research, presentations, management activities, and contributes to the education of the next generation of doctors as a College Tutor and examiner.
