Mr Ganapathi explained everything I needed to know & was happy to answer my questions

From the initial consultation, when everything was thoroughly explained to me, the treatment I received was first class with my hip replacement surgery, now 7 weeks after surgery I am walking unaided without the need for crutches and without pain. Everything was carried out very professionally.

I went to see Mr Ganapathy after suffering extreme pain and discomfort in my left knee for 9 months with little prospect of any treatment from my doctor except painkillers even though I had had an MRI scan and report describing my knee as “knackered” to put it bluntly! Mr Ganapathi arranged an immediate X-ray and showed and explained that the problem was OA of the knee joint. He recommended.a full knee joint replacement and described how this would be carried out by robotic assistance to maximise the effectiveness of the surgery. I had visited Mr Ganapathi’s web site before attending the consultation which helped my understanding, but mr Ganapathi was patient to answer my questions. He explained the options for anesthetic during the surgery and that there were risks during and after surgery. Also, that the recovery would require a combination of pain relief and ongoing physiotherapy in order to for me to achieve the best results from my new knee going forward. I was completely reassured by the consultation and agreed to go ahead with surgery within the month at my own cost because I had no private medical insurance and had lost so much mobility. I opted for the spinal injection with a high level of sedation for the procedure and recovered full awareness of my surroundings within a couple of hours. Mr Ganapathy called to see me shortly after this and said that the surgery had gone well. He observed my leg movements and explained that he would come to see me the following day. Which was filled with physio activities. By the evening I was walking with sticks and later without any sticks at Mr Ganaphi’s request and under his care. This was extremely reassuring and rewarding for me. The pain management and nursing was excellent at Murrayfield and I went home two nights after surgery. I followed the physiotherapy plan carefully and thoroughly and after one month was walking 2 - 3 km daily with one stick for reassurance. I had also stopped taking any pain relief and only had occasional aching at the new joint. At two months I had no need for the stick and had virtually forgotten that one of my knees had an artificial joint. I am very grateful for the treatment I have received from Mr Ganapathi, the physio team and Murrayfield hospital.

Mr Ganapathi was excellent, he explained my issues thoroughly and presented my options so that I understood them and I could choose the best couse of action for me. The operation went very well, and his post operative care wes also excellent.

I found Mr Ganapathy a warm personality easy to talk with.His listening skills were very good.

At my first appointment Mr Ganapathi was welcoming, patient, and keen to explain all aspects of my knee replacement surgery. He also explained the use of the ROSA robotic system he would use to perform the operation. Post-operatively he came to see me on the ward to reassure me the operation had gone well. When I attended my follow up appointment he showed me the X-rays of my knee prior to surgery and after the replacement. He fully explained how he hoped this new technique would improve patient outcomes. I was very impressed with his caring professional attitude, and would definitely recommend him to others.
