Explanation

After discovering a breast lump my G.P. referred me to Mr Kothari who l spoke to by telephone as the Covid 19 lockdown was in place. We had a consultation and l explained my symptoms and measured the lump and shared how it felt, from which Mr Kothari rightly diagnosed a cyst, possibly caused by the low dose HRT l have taken for a number of years, but which l had increased a few months previously. I then attended Princess Margaret Hospital in Windsor for a mammogram and scan, plus biopsy, as both were clear l had a breast drainage at the same time. In all my dealings with Mr Kothari he was very willing to answer my questions and explained things in detail and in ways l could understand, l actually found it interesting and fascinating. I was sad not to have met him face to face and shake his hand, but he is evidently a brilliant consultant, and l count myself fortunate to have been under his care.

I was amazed and very re assured when l spoke with Mr Kothari by phone and he diagnosed that a painful lump l had discovered on my breast was a cyst. I had explained where it was situated and how it felt, also the shape and diameter. A private doctor that my daughter sent to my home initially had grimly diagnosed cancer, but feeling uneasy about his diagnosis l spoke with my G.P. and he referred me to Mr Kothari. So,... l have nothing but admiration for Mr Kothari, not just his diagnosis but also his warm and friendly manner, plus his advise and reassurances.

To be informed that you have cancer particularly when this diagnosis was so unexpected takes skill on the part of the Consultant to deliver such news in a manner that leaves a patient confident that they are in safe caring and compassionate hands....and having now completed my treatment for breast cancer with the accompanying surgeries it is difficult to convey with sufficient words just how wonderful my care was under Mr Kothari and his team....and not forgetting the amazing Outra my own breast care nurse. I felt continually supported even when being over emotional and more importantly I was never rushed and allowed to just talk and ask many many questions regarding my treatment ....all of which was handled with such patience allowing me to feel really confident in the treatment and surgeries that had been agreed and I’m so pleased with the results of those surgeries. It has been a year in my life that has been quite a challenge in many ways ... but made so much easier by knowing that Mr Kothari was overseeing my health and for this I will always be very grateful to him.
