Ioannis graduated from the Medical School of University of Crete, Greece. He was trained in General, Vascular, Surgical Critical Care and Transplant/HPB Surgery. Post CCT, he was a Senior Fellow in UGI Surgery at Countess of Chester Hospital followed by a Fellowship in Bariatric and Oesophagogastric Surgery at Oxford University Hospitals.
He is the College Tutor and Examiner of the Central Recruitment Panel for Surgical Training. He is a Member of the Faculty of Surgical Trainers and a Member of the of the Educational Committee of the European Society for Trauma and Emergency Surgery.
He performed more than 1500 operations as a primary surgeon the last 5 years with more than 900 of them laparoscopically. He also performed more than 550 gastroscopies the last 4 years.
