Mr Di Franco graduated medicine in 1995 and came to the UK where he completed both his basic and higher surgical training in the North East of England. He is a Consultant General Surgeon at Hinchingbrooke Hospital since 2011, where he specialised in upper gastrointestinal and laparoscopic surgery.

During his surgical training, Mr Di Franco trained at the famous Northern Oesophago-Gastric Unit, one of the largest units of the kind in the UK. During this time, he also completed his research under the supervision of Professor Griffin, having written a thesis on perioperative immunonutrition in patients undergoing surgery for oesophagogastric cancer. His interest in research still drives him to publish in peer-reviewed journals and present at national and international conferences.

Mr Di Franco is a vastly experienced general surgeon, particularly in the field of laparoscopic repair of groin hernias and other abdominal wall hernias including incisional, umbilical and epigastric hernias. He also performs over 100 laparoscopic cholecystectomies per year.

Mr Di Franco is also involved in teaching, currently being the educational supervisor and also a teacher for medical students and surgical trainees. He also contributes to the Oxford Handbook of Clinical Surgery and Oxford Handbook of Operative Surgery.
