Mr Erik Havranek is a consultant urological surgeon at Northwick Park and Central Middlesex Hospitals in Harrow and London. He is qualified in all aspects of general urology and specialises in kidney stone disease, metabolic syndrome, female incontinence (uro-gynaecology), urinary tract infections, erectile dysfunctions and prostatitis. He also has a clinical interest in prostate enlargement and urinary symptoms (including TURP) and benign and malignant prostate disease. He performs vasectomies, laser stone surgery (ureteroscopy), external shockwave lithotripsy (ESWL) and percutaneous nephrolithotomy (PCNL).
After studying medicine at Imperial College (University of London) he completed his surgical training at Mary's Hospital, Paddington, and his specialised urology training on the North West London Urology rotation. He then completed a fellowship at the Princess Alexandra Hospital, Brisbane, Australia and at the Stone Unit in Guy's Hospital. He was awarded a MD by St George's Hospital (University of London) for his research into renal cancer.
Mr Havranek has an active interest in teaching and research. He is widely published in book chapters and peer-reviewed articles and has presented at a number of international conferences. He teaches on revision courses for junior surgeons and frequently peer reviews journal articles for scientific articles.
He is a member of the British Association of Urological Surgeons, Royal College of Surgeons of England and European Association of Urologists.
