Mr Cahill is excellent to deal with under difficult circumstances. He is understanding, clear with explanations and gives all the options available. I had an excellent result after the operation with minimal side effects for such a complicated procedure.

Mr Cahill must be one of the best, if not the best, robotic prostate surgeons in the country. He is kind and very personable, and has the most remarkable skill in the operating theatre. He performed a radical robotic prostatectomy on me for cancer, removing all of the tumour and leaving me fully continent from the moment the catheter was removed; I have not suffered ED, even in the first few weeks, and cannot really believe the excellent results after all I read beforehand. If you need prostate surgery, he is your man!

Mr Cahill clearly explained the plan of what was going to happen ahead of my operation and has been extremely honest and factual post the operation, both immediately after and in subsequent consultations. I'm very pleased with both the experience and result of my operation and with how available Mr Cahill has made himself any time I have had questions, and offering support and advice appropriately. Having cancer is at a daunting prospect, particularly with taking the right decisions as to whether to treat or operate, and from my first discussion through to the ongoing follow up's I'm very pleased with the open and honest approach from Mr Cahill and grateful for the professionalism of him and his support team.

I have been extremely pleased with the care I have received from the Mr Cahill and his Urology team at The Royal Marsden. There were various options in relation to the type of treatment I could have chosen to address my prostate cancer. I discussed these options with Mr Cahill during the course of several consultations and these helped me get clarity regarding the right option for me. We discussed how the treatment would be conducted, the risks and how recovery could potentially play out. The treatment is a concerning prospect, however, I was booked in quickly, well cared for during my stay in hospital and able to walk out the next day following my surgery to go home. The operation went incredibly well, I was immediately continent following the removal of the catheter. For the first 6 months I would estimate that I was about 80% potent and this improved with Sildenafil. After 1 year I experienced times when I was near to 100% potent but also had intermittent periods of up to 2 weeks during which I found it difficult to be potent at all. I experienced an improvement after 1 year and 3 months and now I am strongly potent most of the time without any medication. This has played out pretty much how it was described to me by Mr Cahill. I had a consultation every 3 months for the first year during which my recovery progress was discussed in detail and I felt reassured that I was heading in the right direction. I have now progressed to a consultation every 6 months and I feel confident that if there were any any issues; then these would be picked up and addressed quickly.

Declan is a very professional surgeon with an excellent bedside manner. He took a lot of personal interest in my aftercare so I would highly recommend him to others.
