Mr Cahill provided clear guidance and explanation on my Prostate cancer which enabled me to understand my options and select a course of action. He inspired confidence and this combined with his professionalism, I am pleased that he undertook my surgery. He has a great manner and he is my sort of person.

My recovery from a radical prostatectomy has been more rapid than I expected and this can only be due to the fact that Declan is an outstanding surgeon. What has really impressed me is that he totally "owns" the Consultant - Patient relationship. Throughout my treatment, he has always been there for me. He has consistently demonstrated a genuine interest in me and my progress which has been both reassuring and motivating for me. He has been absolutely committed to providing the best possible outcome for me, whatever it takes and has constantly reviewed the options available as treatment has progressed. Despite the fact that he is inevitably busy, he has followed up promptly and diligently whilst retaining the knowledge about me and my condition and proactively engaging with me to check how I am doing. He also has a great sense of humour and an outstanding team supporting him. I continue to be hugely impressed by his all-round skill and attentiveness and cannot recommend him highly enough.

The level of web based information on Mr Cahill and his team , the step by step videos , the post operative statistics and the easy access to a high level of information filled me with confidence in Mr Cahill's experience right from the outset. I found his calm , reassuring and affable manner particularly reassuring, at a time when I was worried about making decisions on treatment. His explanations of the procedures both pre and post operative enabled me to make decisions about the choice of approach.

Before the operation, Mr Cahill ensured that I fully understood what the operation entailed and how he expected my post-operative recovery to proceed. He was always accessible and adaptable in dealing with any of my problems or concerns, which were dealt with promptly. He was very open and pro-active in addressing the long term consequences of my operation. As a result I had the minimum of stress and worry.

From day one I was immediately impressed with Mr Cahill’s approach to my condition and speed in dealing with this and a more serious historical issue that was only then brought to light. Mr Cahill kept me fully informed as matters were being investigated, reassuring me throughout, which was made all the more difficult due to the current Covid crisis. I was subsequently operated upon achieving a first class result. Also, at this time Mr Cahill spoke to my wife to keep her fully in the picture. A thorough professional and and sincere person.

I found Declan to be very clear and precise in his advice and when answering my questions concerning the treatment that he recommended and which we discussed thoroughly. I found this communication and his explanation very reassuring and positive and this clarity certainly helped my decision. For anyone looking for a surgeon to perform a radical robotic prostatectomy I would have absolutely no hesitation in recommending Mr Cahill. I put my quick recovery down to his surgical expertise. His surgical team and post operative care nurse were also very professional, and he has a great bedside manner.

Declan was assigned as my surgeon for my prostatectomy operation twelve months ago. He was friendly and approachable during the pre operation meeting and the follow up post operation review meeting. The surgery was successful in eliminating the signs of cancer so far. His explanations were clear and to the point. I have one remaining post operation side effect (vertigo) but I believe that may have been due to the anaesthetic administered just before the operation.
