ACL repair. At diagnosis, Mr Bailey provided a full explanation of injury, options,, surgery, recovery and managed expectations. The surgery went very well and post surgery follow up was very timely. Covid presented some challenges but this was all managed really well. I went to the Nuffield, Southampton, and the overall experience was excellent.

My wife had a right total knee replacement carried out by Mr Bailey in November 2019 under the NHS. The procedure was a great success but unfortunately her left knee deteriorated rapidly. By the summer of 2020 she was in a worse condition regarding mobility than the previous year. We decided that to maintain her standard of life we needed urgent help. Having had such good results and the attention she received we got in contact with Mr Bailey. We told him we would like him to carry out the procedure on her other knee at the BMI Hospital in Winchester. From the outset all of our problems seemed to disappear with the care we received from Mr Bailey and his support team were outstanding. The way they dealt with some of my wife’s special needs during these difficult times made the whole thing so much easier for me also. Going through the preparation as well as the procedure can be very stressful for partners as well as the patient. Just like the first one the procedure went extremely well. Sat at home knowing my wife was in the operating theatre I like many partners in this situation was nervously waiting for a time when I could phone the ward to see if she was back safe and sound. My mobile phone went and picking it up I was greeted by “Hi this is Chris Bailey just calling to let you know we have your wife in the recovery room she is talking with us. All went well and she now has a nice new knee just like the other one”. All worry disappeared with a feeling of elation. The quality of the surgery was first class but the personal care to both of us more than I could classify.

Chris was brilliant , understood the dynamics of my injury (torn cartilage) and managed to explain the benefits of surgery etc in line with my personal goals to get back into sport. Operation was effortless and quick, no issues. All managed through BUPA insurance efficiently too. Hopefully I don’t have another injury that needs a surgeon, but I know I’ll be back I so.

Having a knee replacement operation is not the most pleasant of experiences but the involvement of Mr Bailey helped the passage considerably, and not for the first time.

All aspects of my knee problems were explained well both before and after the operation. I was also very impressed at the overall efficiency of the service, especially during the COVID-19 situation..

Mr Bailey was very informative and professional during my experience. He made me feel very comfortable, answering any questions I had with ease. Considering I had only met him on the day of surgery, due to covid19, this was very reassuring.

After limping on my knee for months I decided to book a consultation with Mr Bailey. The examination was thorough & he arranged a MRI scan to confirm his diagnosis. This was undertaken swiftly. The proposed procedure was fully explained (arthroscopy) during a further consultation and a date agreed for the operation. Unfortunately Coronavirus delayed the operation until August, when I was admitted to a BMI hospital for the procedure. Mr Bailey met me pre-operation & discussed again the operation I was to receive & marked my leg. The operation was carried out without complications. I was seen by Mr Bailey after the operation & before discharge to ensure I was OK and to run through what he had done, together with receipt of before and after images of the work he had undertaken. We discussed the do’s and don’ts for the 3 week period after my operation including attending to the dressings. After 2 weeks I had a further consultation where progress and any complications (none) were discussed along with ‘normal’ post operation conditions. This was the second operation performed by Mr Bailey having repaired a ruptured quadriceps tendon approx 5 years ago on the same knee. Overall Mr Bailey was approachable, answering my many questions in a calm and reassuring professional manner. I was treated with respect. My knee is well on the way to full recovery. I have no hesitation in recommending Mr Bailey for necessary knee surgery.
