Mr Ahmed Talaat is a Consultant Gynaecologist specialising in gynaecological oncology. He is based in Plymouth and Exeter and currently practises at the following private hospitals:

• Derriford Hospital, Plymouth
• Nuffield Health Exeter Hospital, Exeter
• Nuffield Health Plymouth Hospital, Plymouth

He graduated from the University of Minya in Egypt in 1989 with his MBBCh degree. In 1990 he became a Fellow of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists, London. He completed his higher specialist training in the UK at St Bartholomew's Hospital and the Royal Free Hospital, London.

He completed a Fellowship in the Ovarian Cancer Research Unit in 1996 where he developed his expertise in cancer screening and the early detection of gynaecological cancers. He received his dual CCT accreditation by the General Medical Council in Obstetrics and Gynaecology in 2012. He has practised as a Consultant Gynaecologist since 2012.

Mr Talaat has expertise in several areas of gynaecology, including heavy periods and menstrual problems, endometriosis and vulval disorders among others. He has special interests in gynaecological cancer surgery, vulval and vaginal warts, vulvoscopy, vaginoscopy and the early detection of gynaecological cancer. He is also an accredited colposcopy specialist and trainer.
