Mr Mohammed Hamdan is a consultant surgeon with a specialisation in laparoscopic (keyhole) surgery for hernias, gallbladders, reflux disease, and weight loss surgery. He has been a substantive consultant surgeon at the Royal Berkshire Hospital NHS Trust, Reading since 2021, and also practises at Spire Dunedin Hospital-Reading, the Berkshire Independent Hospital-Reading, and Circle Hospital-Reading. His expertise lies in laparoscopic procedures for hernias, antireflux procedures, diagnostic and therapeutic upper GI endoscopy, and weight loss surgery.

Mr Hamdan obtained his medical degree from The University of Jordan in 2005. Following this, he received basic surgical training in Southampton and higher surgical training in the Bristol region. He became a member of the Royal College of Surgeons of England in 2010 and a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of England in 2018.

After completing his surgical training, Mr Hamdan received a CCT in General Surgery with subspecialty interest in Upper GI surgery. He later underwent a post CCT fellowship in Bariatric and Advanced Laparoscopic Surgery in Royal Berkshire Hospital, Reading between 2019 and 2021. During this time, he gained expertise in all forms of Bariatric surgery. In October 2021, he was appointed as a substantive Consultant Emergency, UGI and Bariatric Surgeon at the Royal Berkshire Hospital, Reading.

Mr Hamdan is a member of professional bodies such as the Royal College of Surgeons of England, the British Obesity and Metabolic Surgery Society (BOMSS), the International Federation of Obesity Surgery (IFSO), the Association of Upper GI Surgeons (AUGIS), and the Association of Laparoscopic Surgeons of Great Britain and Ireland (ALSGBI).
