Dr Eli Silber has been a Consultant Neurologist at Kings’ College Hospital and the Queen Elizabeth Hospital, where he is the clinical lead, since 2000.Eli is an experienced general neurologist and consults on common neurological problems including headaches, dizziness and vertigo, tremor and seizures or faints. He is involved in the management of acute neurological inpatients.He has a special interest in the management of patients with multiple sclerosis and other inflammatory conditions.
In the 2013 Tatler Doctors Guide, he was named as one of Britain’s Top 250 Consultants. Dr Silber is an Honorary Senior Lecturer at Kings College London.

General outpatient neurology:
In his clinics he sees patients with a variety of neurological conditions including:
Headaches,including the use of botulinum toxin (Botox) and nerve blocks for chronic migraine
Dizziness,vertigo and unsteadiness
Seizures and fainting
Parkinson’s disease and tremors.
Multiple sclerosis (MS)
MS is an immune disease of the brain and spinal cord. It is the most common cause of neurological disability in young adults. MS can present in a
variety of ways and has a variable disease course. Dr Silber set up the Regional MS Service based at Kings College Hospital as well as a satellite service at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital. This service is involved in the diagnosis and management of people with MS, including provision of specialist opinions in complex cases and assessment for disease modifying therapies.
His clinical and research interests include extending care for people with MS. This includes a model service for mental health problems (short listed
Guardian Public service awards 2007), palliative care for people with advanced MS and MS in ethnic minorities. He continues to conduct research
and publish on aspects of MS.
He established one of the most successful clinical trial groups at Kings College Hospital. He has been a lead investigator in many of the trials
of novel therapeutic agents for people with MS, including monoclonal antibodies and oral therapies.
In recognition of his contribution, he was awarded the MS society’s annual Richard Cave award in 2006.
Acute neurology
Dr Silber provides care for patients with acute neurological emergencies. He works closely with colleagues in acute general medicine and intensive care units assessing complex and critically ill patients.
Rehabilitation and Palliative care
Dr Silber cares for patients with neurological disability requiring inpatient and outpatient rehabilitation. He has an interest in patients with advanced neurological conditions and had been the Neurologist on the National Council for Palliative Care’s neurology working group as well as on the European Medical Association's working group of palliative care in MS.
High altitude: he is also interested in the neurological problems (including headaches) that occur at high altitudes, and provided advice to inform the NHS guidelines on high altitude medicine.

Dr Silber undertakes medico-legal work, both in general aspects of neurology and in his area of particular expertise, multiple sclerosis. For

Brief CV
Dr Silber studied medicine at the University of the Witwatersrand and completed his neurology training in Johannesburg, South Africa. He came to
the UK in 1997. After spending a year as Senior Registrar at Charing Cross Hospital, he joined the Department of Neuroimmunology at Guy’s Hospital. His MD thesis investigated the causes of disability in multiple sclerosis by developing an antibody assay as a biomarker of axonal damage in MS.
Since 2000, he has been Consultant Neurologist at the Kings Regional Neurosciences Centre and at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital, London. He is
currently the clinical lead for neurology at Lewisham and Greenwich NHS Trust.
Dr Silber was a member of the Association of British Neurologists MS Group and serves on the ABN standards and services subcommittee and is a
medical advisor to the MS Society.
Dr Silber enjoys teaching and has been nominated for teaching awards by his medical students. He co-supervises doctoral students and was on the
specialist question group for the MRCP exam.
