    About

Headache, dizziness and sensory disturbance are all common
neurological conditions that are disturbing and can be disabling. Dr Ben Turner
is a Consultant Neurologist and Honorary Senior Lecturer with a wealth of
experience in the full range of neurological conditions with a particular
interest in headache, dizziness and multiple sclerosis.

The key to good management of all medical conditions is to
‘nail’ the diagnosis and then identify treatable causes. Common symptoms such
as ‘headache’ and ‘vertigo’ are often incorrectly diagnosed and the wrong
treatments recommended. Dr Ben Turner can provide prompt assessment,
    investigation and interventions where required.

Dr Ben Turner’s NHS post is as Senior Consultant Neurologist
at Barts Health NHS Trust and as Honorary Senior Lecturer continues to be
actively involved in research for MS and headache. In addition, as Training
Programme Director for Neurology he manages the training of future Consultant
Neurologists. At HCA Shard and London Brdige he is Senior Neurology Consultant and Network lead for Neurology.

In addition to his work in the UK, Dr Turner has also worked as a visiting doctor in Kuwait, UAE and Jordan. He has also given lectures on Multiple Sclerosis in various cities, including Tehran and Beirut, where the disease is prevalent.

Dr Turner and his office Mr S and Hazel have been and continue to be exceptional. I know that Hazel used all her negotiating skills to my benefit for one particular procedure and at one of the very worst moments she took charge and left me confident she would deal with it. Dr Turner immediately gave me confidence on Friday evening that I had made it to a place where I could be helped. He always did exactly what he said he would and I was very relieved to have found myself allocated under his care.

When I presented to Dr Turner on 16th October I was in a desperate state, I quickly became aware that I was now in very good hands and am incredibly grateful for the care and attention he gave me late into the evening and offering me reassurance on initial test results before leaving. He has followed up regularly whilst in hospital and outside and I feel I couldn’t be in better hands. Everything is clearly explained and I have opportunity to ask questions In addition to recognising Dr Turner’s amazing help, I would also like to mention all of the team within his office and especially Hazel, Practice Manager. At absolutely the lowest point for me, Hazel stepped in and took personal responsibility, negotiating hard on my behalf and to my benefit. She left me confident that she would sort the challenge, she did and communicated back to me quickly and in a caring manner, I owe her a huge debt of gratitude.

It was a pleasure to see Dr Turner. He is kind and compassionate, very clear in his explanations, and open to discussing alternative views and options. He clearly dedicated time to revise my (extensive) case documents before the first appointment.

I received bad news from Dr. Turner and appreciated his practical manner and realistic approach in explaining my next steps. He was very helpful in pointing me towards useful resources and answering all questions I had, from the medical to the more administrative. I feel confident in trusting the care I am receiving which is so important at a worrying time.

    Multiple Sclerosis (MS)
A neurological disease is very bad news. Multiple sclerosis simply blew my little universe apart as medical literature I rushed to after diagnosis says there is no cure. One lives on borrowed time and it is hard to re-align your health, your job, your family and friends, your everything with the routine of a slow destruction. One needs a neurologist, a GP, a psychiatrist, a hematologist, an internal organs medical expert, etc and at the same time someone to dare to customise the last medical know how to your condition. I meet virtually with people diagnosed with the same condition as mine and I came to know the difference between success and failure. I am physically and intellectually capable of living as I want and I am in the 8th year of remission to boot. I know I owe this to the one neurologist who silently accepts to be the steward of his patients - Ben Turner.
