From 1st meeting through to the procedure it run very professionally . He was reassuring but also clear about the potential outcome. Super bedside manner that projected decades of experience at his job. Always felt I was in safe hands. Great job Dr Pitcher and team

Dr.Pitcher did not ask enough questions about my symptoms. He quickly concluded that the symptoms I was experiencing were part of my IBS, and offered no explanation on why he doesn't think it's anything else even after I explained that I've had IBS for 16 years and this is the first time I've experienced symptoms like this and it's the first time I've need a gastroenterologist. He did not take my concerns seriously, and again offered no explanation on why those concerns were unlikely. He was in a rush to prescribe a medication that was only available on private prescription, but again offered no explanation on why this medication was only available on private prescription (e.g. whether it had side effects), what this medication will do and whether this is something I might need to be on for the rest of my life. In conclusion, the "diagnosis" was made very quickly with very few questions asked and barely any examination, no explanation was given on why and how this diagnosis was made given the limited info, no explanation was given on the prescribed medication and on the long term management of this, no explanation was given on the concerns I had and none of my questions were answered.
I am very disappointed that you did not feel listened to or taken seriously. I can assure you that this was not the case on my part. A diagnosis of IBS is not one of exclusion. It is a positive diagnosis usually made at the first consultation on the basis of clinical criteria supported by internationally-agreed guidelines, all of which were followed. Your GP had already supplied me with the results of comprehensive investigations in Primary Care. You were offered limited further investigation in your own time and you agreed to be prescribed the only licensed medication for your symptoms as a 30 day therapeutic trial. This again is supported by clinical guidelines. I don't raise expectations that patients can be "fixed" after a single consultation. Often, the path to treatment success is a series of consultations where an empathetic, trusting therapeutic doctor-patient relationship can be fostered and anxieties freely explored. I have submitted a formal response to the points you have raised and offered a follow-up consultation free of charge. I have also suggested a second opinion for you to consider. I wish you well in your outcome.

Dr Pitcher, is an excellent medical professional. His knowledge of Gastroenterology, detailed yet easy to understand explanations of symptoms, issues and solutions are highly appreciated. Dr Pitcher, is the most pleasant doctor I have come across in my time, very calm and soft in his approach, always smiling, and happy to go the extra mile. I cannot commend Dr Pitcher enough, and truly have my trust and faith in his abilities. He makes time to explain any questions and is a 10/10 if not a 20/10 in terms of overall experience. He took the time to see me pre-procedure and post procedure, ensuring I was OK and if I had any questions. I would highly reccomend Dr Pitcher for his expertise, approach, and fabulous service.
