Dr Gurvinder Banait is a Consultant Gastroenterologist who qualified in 1989 from Manchester. His training included all aspects of Internal Medicine and Gastroenterology. He became a consultant in 2000 in East Lancashire and moved to a consultant post in Greater Manchester in 2009.

He is available to see patients with a wide range of gastrointestinal disorders such as indigestion, swallowing problems, abdominal pain, stool issues, weight loss, iron deficiency anaemia and possible/diagnosed liver disease amongst others.

About me

I am an approachable, patient-centred, and very experienced doctor and always make sure that I explore your issues carefully and thoroughly. I have access to all the investigations needed to do this.

My training included all aspects of Internal Medicine and Gastroenterology. This included emergency, intensive and coronary care, lung disease and diabetes.

My specialised gastroenterology training has included work in a number of North West Hospitals including Hope Hospital and Manchester Royal Infirmary.

My post-graduate research was carried out at Manchester University (1997-99) and examined the management of dyspepsia and upper gastrointestinal tract symptoms. I have also published a number of papers covering a wide variety of gastroenterology related subjects throughout his training and have continued to do so as a consultant. My latest work is involved with optimising the care of patients with jaundice due to cancer.
