Dr Carl Shakespeare is a Consultant Cardiologist. He currently works within St Thomas's Hospital in London. He previously held the role of Lead Consultant Cardiologist at Queen Elizabeth Hospital for 18 years. He also sees patients in a private setting at the Blackheath, Lister and London Independent Hospitals.
Dr Shakespeare began his medical education at Westminster Medical School, graduating in 1984. He then progressed onto his specialist training at several London-based clinics including the National Heart Hospital, St Thomas', St George's and the Royal London Hospital. He was awarded a fellowship by the British Heart Foundation in 1989 to further develop his cardiology skills. Following this, he became a fully accredited specialist in Internal Medicine and Cardiology.
Dr Shakespeare is an active member of the research community, with over 40 peer-reviewed publications. He is also the Clinical Director of the SE London Cardiac Network and Regional Advisor to the British Cardiac Society and the Royal College of Physicians.

I have been a patient of Carl for some years. He is such a lovely Dr. Always explains in detail what is needed and always pleasant. Has a lovely bedside manner. His secretary is so very helpful and kind too.

I would definitely recommend Dr Shakespeare, he iss friendly and put my mind at rest when I was a bit worried worried; he explained everything in a clear and professional manner. He ran several tests, and then went through the results with me. I am very happy with the treatment I received.

Very happy with the treatment received, rather than having to make another appointment an echocardiogram was taken and received the results all within the same appointment. My mind was put at rest with just one visit.

I saw Dr Shakespeare at the Lister Hospital Chelsea. Its a very nice Hospital well equipped with lovely staff. Dr Shakespeare is a really nice and friendly guy, he's easy and very nice to talk to exceptionally knowledgeable and gives a straight answer when asked, which I appreciate. An extremely competent cardiologist who always seems to have time for explanation and discussion. Very efficient organisation for investigations and follow up with very nice efficient staff to help make a stressful time calmer and ease fears etc.

Dr Shakespeare is a Consultant Colleague whom I have know for 20 years. Carl Shakespeare has an excellent bedside manner and his clinical opinion is highly respected. More recently I have been under his care as a patient and he has been outstanding in treating me. His has a very reassuring manner and takes time to explain the diagnosis management and treatment.
